Janet in the Garden, 2025

Janet in the Garden, 2025
Janet in the Garden is a playful commentary on a painting by Jonas Wood where he features his cat Janet inside at night in a t.v room. Now, Janet has been set free in a lush garden bursting with light and colour.
There are three separate ceramic pieces in this work, the background support (garden), Janet (cat) and the balustrade, each hand made and hand painted.

This piece is unique.
Holly Wheatcroft’s ceramic collages offer a playful take on the still life genre where objects are anything but “still” as they break away and spill out of their frames. Glazed stoneware slabs and shapes are layered with art historical references and a focus on pattern and texture. The artist’s use of clay is a deliberate and contemporary choice to highlight pottery’s role throughout the ages as an enduring storytelling medium.
