June 29 - July 3 (no camp July 1) WEEK ONE Painting & Drawing the MASTERS 8:30 am - 4 pm

CA$375.00

The Masters will be our inspiration all week long: Odilon Redon’s soft pastel floating landscapes, self portraits like Frida Kahlo (surrounded by things we love), Joseph Cornell’s dancing lobsters, the fabulous colours of Andy Warhol, the patterns of Jonas Wood, printmaking our own version of Hokusai’s Wave, ….plus a bit of fun with the Mona Lisa :) We will draw, paint and sculpt using materials such as gold foil, clay, acrylics, watercolour, pastels, printmaking, and POSCA.

The Art Room is excited to announce we will be hosting summer camps at 26 Sousa Mendes Street in the Junction this summer (just a couple of units fdown rom last year’s location). It’s a corner unit and double the size of last year, measuring 2,300 square feet with large windows on three sides. The studio has air conditioning, two bathrooms, and most importantly is located in a safe residential neighbourhood. We will walk to Perth Square Park for outdoor play after lunch, just two blocks away with no busy streets to cross.

There will be two groups in the studio, loosely divided by age. This will happen organically and according to camper / parent requests, as well as how the groups are working together. Helping our campers feel comfortable, challenged and relaxed will be more important than strict age divisions. Please make a note in your registration if your child would like to be with a sibling or a friend. All campers will be making the same projects.

Please note we do not accept campers younger than 5 years old. Your child must be able to use the washroom themselves and have enough motor skills to write their name / use scissors. Staff are never alone with a camper and therefore do not help change clothes or apply sunscreen. For younger campers, please pack an extra set of clothing in case of an accident. We understand drop off/transitions/new spaces can sometimes be challenging. Please note that our staff will only help with drop off in a moderate fashion. Should your child becomes upset or disruptive, you will be asked to take a short break outside and try again.

The Art Room is nut free. Please bring two nut-free snacks and lunch, appropriate outdoor gear, hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle. A typical day at The Art Room for ages 5-13 is as follows: 8:30-9 am drop off, art project, snack, art project, lunch and outside play, art project, snack and finishing up / cleaning up. A total of three completed art projects per day is usual. PLEASE NOTE: Registration is final as of May 15, with no refunds unless the spot can be filled via the waitlist. Refunds will be given up until May 15 minus a 7% administration fee.

Please respect The Art Room’s screen free zone policy. If a child and parent/ guardian need to communicate with one another, Holly’s phone at 416-906-2704 is always available.
